We are nearly finished with our Friend of the Day for this round of friends. There is one friend waiting patiently to be our grand finale. :) Every morning we have focused on writing a complete story with the topic and concluding sentences and three details sentences in between, analyzing the story to identify all parts of speech, and exploring divisibility of numbers by 2, 3, 4, 5, and 10.
Your child should be able to:
- Quickly and easily tell you the following in any sentence: noun, pronoun, adjective, verb, introductory statement, and prepositional phrase. The children love the prepositional phrases and have started identifying prepositions based on our daily activity.
- Quickly and easily tell you if a number can be divided by: 2, 3, 4, 5, and 10 - and why. He/She should also be able to prove it with evidence if you show any number between 100 and 999. For some children, it can be any number (beyond a million) and your child will be able to tell you why it can or cannot be divided into groups by any of those numbers evenly.
- Round a number to the nearest 10.
- Tell you one more, one less, ten more, and ten less than a number.
- Read with phrasing and fluency at the same speed he/she naturally speaks.
Did your child tell you about our science coordinate grid? They are so fluent with graphing coordinates on a coordinate plane in all four quadrants! :) (Math: spatial design; Science: connected to chemistry learning; Literacy: listening and following directions).
