Today the children enjoyed activities involving our BAM Wall, revising writing, and reading groups. While small groups were meeting for reading, the children were engaged in differentiated activities focused on word sorts and reading comprehension.

Reading groups are focusing on strategies, extending ideas, and specific comprehension elements related to their specific books.

In writing, your child has created lists of ideas to inspire writing, taken a dictation test, and completed the district spelling assessments. We are focusing on retreading writing to edit and revise with particular emphasis on adding specificity, adjectives, and enhanced vocabulary. Another area of focus is on beginning with introductory statements. For now, those should at least explain the setting - when or where?

Every child now has an iPad cover. Hooray! Thank you for sending one in for your child. ;) By now, your child should be teaching you something new. ;) A scope and sequence for what has been taught and what will be coming next will be shared at Back to School Night along with homework which will be as unique as our classroom. ;) Right now we are learning the "what" and "how" for each app chosen. They are already developing proficiency with key tools (within apps) that will be used throughout the year.
