Today some children focused on learning the word "can" while others focused on making a Double Bubble Map to compare Humphrey and Og. The word "can" was used to write a mini book while the Double Bubble was used to write the big idea and rules related to our class chapter book.
Everyone practiced a few activities on the BAM Wall. Based on observational data and assessments, two sections of the BAM Wall were just modified. The children will try these tomorrow. The focus is on being able to solve problems in multiple ways, check their work, and revise (ties to writing and iPad moviemaking). The goal is for every child to realize that we are all still learning and there are always opportunities to revise.
Another focus in math is on guessing the Newscaster of the Day's secret number. Clues are given along the way with the focus on representing the information in terms of an unknown number and "greater than" or "less than".
STEAM Stations are the hit in the room as expected. Just a reminder, STEAM is an acronym for Science/Tech/Engineering/Art/Math. The STEAM stations involve building, creating, and designing in cooperative teams.
Just a reminder that Back to School Night is on Thursday at 6:30. Please gather in the media center for introductions and a welcome from Mrs. K. Then, you will come to our room.
