The children came in so excited to tell me about how they saw the same thing on television last night that we discussed and "lived" in class. Thank you all!

This morning we did interview Don the Bookman after her read his stories to us. It was so amazing! He told us that what makes him happy is seeing the children in our class laugh. :) His best answer was the change he has seen in the world. We were expecting to hear about the computer. Instead, he simply said "peace". He then recapped the end of World War II, Hiroshima, and how he thinks everyone would be happy if we just had peace in the world. The most amazing part? We never had a chance to prep him, because his last visit was on Halloween. His responses were literally from the top of his head. It was amazing! However, please prep your loved ones. :) It was obvious that he enjoyed being interviewed and truly enjoys reading to the class every Wednesday morning.

Time for Kids arrived today! Hooray! We were soooooo excited that we pushed "the pause button" on our autobiographies to do the long awaited learning with the TFK nonfiction reading. They were seriously so excited that they were jumping out of their seats to show me! :) We focused on the following: as
- always browse the cover, back, images, and layout FIRST to apply background knowledge and get the brain ready for the reading
- read the captions and sidebars, scan the dark print, look for language of the discipline, read the glossary or extra details
- LAST - read the main articles
Tomorrow we will use it to identify, discuss, and locate features of expository text.
Your child reviewed math across the strands this morning and practiced math fact fluency. Tomorrow we will try our BAM Wall on iPads with instant feedback to guide next questions and apply what we have learned to a challenging CGI problem involving a missing amount.
