Walt Disney sure had an interesting life! Tomorrow we will finish reading about his childhood, the inspiration for Disneyland, and how he created what we now enjoy at Disneyland. The children are making connections to EVERYTHING which is amazing. While reading the chapters of his biography today they made spontaneous connections to Rosa Parks, Babe Ruth, science, Felix, "hoping" (tell your child "I hope . . ." and watch the reaction :) ), our classroom, and our interviewing. Simply amazing!

During reading groups we talked about how memory goes from short term memory to long term memory. By now, you know that's a passion of mine in teaching - linking and making connections. They are doing it so naturally all day. Surely you see it at home as well. :)

Speaking of linking, your child used the homework from last week to write a short biography about the person he/she interviewed as practice. Your child is becoming an incredible biographer!

In math, the children are in three different guided math groups practicing different elements of number sense depending on their foundation and understanding. Every group is making terrific progress while having fun with math.

Did you hear about Flat Stanley's visits already? Since we are now doing our BAM Wall on iPads, the BAM Wall was removed to make room for our geographic study of Flat Stanley's travels. So far, he has received five emails already! The photos submitted to his email site were printed and are now on display on our world map. We can't wait to see how far our Flat Stanley's can travel! :) Watch for a photo of the beginning map.:)
