Did you hear about our Around the World Adventure? Below are some questions you might like to ask to elicit more details from your child.
??? What did you learn on your iPad Around the World Adventure? (Was the answer something like "nothing. It was just fun!"? Terrific! Visitors' most often overheard comments are related to how they don't even know they are learning. :))
??? What countries or continents did you explore on your map?
??? What were some of the clues? How did you get them?
??? How did it start?
??? What screenshots did you take as proof of evidence?
??? What did you do with the screenshots?
??? How did you use the 5 C's while doing it all by yourself? (communication, critical thinking, collaboration, creativity, curiosity :))
??? Where is . . . (insert continents (esp. N. America, Africa, and Australia), Tanzania, Thailand, China, India, Japan, Canada, Colombia, France, Italy, England, etc. - all places that represent our heritage :)
Everything you sent in for us to deconstruct has not been thoroughly investigated. It looks nothing like it did on Open House. Incredible curiosity!
We did one section of our multistep embedded CGI problem today that involved analyzing a graph to interpret the data about the amount of bamboo eaten per day by the panda cub at the Santa Ana Zoo.
??? What type of graph was it? Why? (change over time) How is that different from a bar graph or a pie graph?
??? What trend did you notice (introduced the concept of a trend line - relates to the stock market in case any readers have that interest)?
After reading more adventure stories, each child began planning his/her own adventure story. They were so excited. Some children really did think about it last night.
??? Who will be in your story?
??? Where will they try to go? Why?
??? What people, animals, places, or events do you plan to include?
Tomorrow is the spelling test, Jiji, our CGI problem continued, and our first day of writing adventure stories. Your child will have a chance to share his/her tangram creation, and we will look at images and short video clips of the pandas in China.
